Chapter 16
Closet Rules
-
Your underwear drawer:
The bare minimum...At the very least, you need as many pairs of underwear as there are days in the week. If you don’t like the idea of having to do laundry every single weekend without ever taking a break from the same-old routine, buy more. If you exercise, buy even more — especially briefs for some extra security. Having ten pairs on hand should be just enough for you to squeak by.
-
What you need for the
well-stocked sock drawerSocks are like stocks — be sure to invest in them, and have a diversified portfolio. It’s more than just a numbers game, but you need at least enough pairs of appropriate-for-your-job-styles to get you through a full work week. Be sure to have a few spare pairs for the weekend, and any extracurricular activities that might come your way. Don’t mismatch out of desperation.
-
Side Note:
Always have at least a few pairs of dress socks in navy, dark grey and black colors waiting in the wings so you have them right before a black tie affair or formal occasion. Do you really want to run out to buy socks when it’s pouring rain and you’re already running late?
